"Connection Failed" with DCC in mIRC

I read all the help files in mIRC but couldnt find anything. I've read the FAQ on my router about the settings for mIRC but I'm still getting the same message. I also have Blackice Firewall install but tried disabling it during a dcc but same results.

What are some of the important things i need to look for and check again? Thanks.

Some DCC servers are duds. If all the other DCC servers in the channel are full and queued up and the DCC server you're trying to recieve from it has 0 current transfers, then it's the DCC server itself.

Quite a few of them around...

In your mirc options, change the DCC ports to a smaller range - mine is set to 1024 for the first and 1030 for the last.

On your router, open ports 1024-1030.

Do whatever you need to blackice to let it pass the traffic on those ports.

DCC is a braindead protocol, you have to forward a set of ports to your machine for it to work properly like bozo1 said.
