Connecting Z-560's to TV's RCA inputs

How do I connect the Logitech Z-560 to the TV's RCA inputs. I'm not sure if it's possible, because the RCA inputs specify right and left channel while the 2 1/8" plugs coming from the subwoofer of the Z-560's are front and rear channel. Is there anyway to connect computer speakers to a TV set?

why would you want to connect to the tv's INPUTS?

that would mean you want to use the tv speakers??

i'm not following

are you sure you're not trying to hook your z-560's up so you can HEAR your tv through them?

let me know

I think he meant the RCA output instead of input...

All you would need is a RCA -> stereo minijack converter cable, which takes the L and R signals and combines them into a single stereo 5mm plug. I have such a cable and it works just fine. To get output to the rear speakers, just add a stereo minijack Y splitter.

TV RCA output --> RCA to minijack converter --> minijack Y splitter --> front and rear inputs on the Z-560s

Wouldn't that make it so the front and rear speakers of the Z-560's output the same sound? No cool bullet sounds coming from one side to the other?

I was thinking that for that the rear male 1/8" connector of the Z-560 could be connected to a converter that has a female 1/8" inch and RCA male connector and then make the rear speakers the left channel for the TV and then do the same for the front male 1/8" and make the front speakers the right channel for the TV. I've seen converters that are 1/8" female --> 1/4" instrument cable male, so I presume they have 1/8" female --> RCA male. I think I'm being confusing, so I am editting once again. The converter I desire has the ends as specified two sentences before, so it converts a 1/8" male to a RCA male. To do that it would need the connector that I mentioned first. Sorry if I'm being even more confusing. All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You need an RCA to dual stereo minijack converter

Might have to build one out of several converters

You'd have two 1/8 inch stereo male ends coming out of the splitter and one would go to front and one would go to rear input

You'd basically have two left speakers and two right speakers

Where would I get one of these? I tried Sony, Curcuit City, Radioshack, Monster Cable, and Bestbuy.

radio shack has everything you need

that particular converter is NOT gonna be available..you have to make your own out of several converters

tell them on one end you need two male RCA's and on the other you need 2 sets of male 1/8 stereo jacks, anyone who works there will be able to build something for you that will do that

one rca out gives you left, one gives you right

you need to combine the two to get "stereo"

and it's the "stereo" signal that you need to "split" into two , one to rear , one to front

if you used two of the adapters shown above you would get sound out of only one speaker in front and one in back

here's what i'm sure you could find at radio shack:

1 dual RCA to to stereo miniplug (female)
1 stereo miniplug (male) to dual stereo miniplug (female) (often used to plug two pairs of headphones into 1 cd player for instance)
2 1/8inch male to 1/8 inch male stereo wires (what normally goes from sound card to z-560's)

you buy all 3 of those, hook 'em together, and you split your stereo signal two ways and have front and rear stereo sound from your tv.

hope that helps

I can't seem to find the first two items on this page. Do I need the last item in the list? Don't the 1/8" male connectors coming from the Z-560's just connect to the two female 1/8" connectors on the second item in the list. I don't seem to be as enlightened as a I thought... hahaha. Is this the first item on the list? How can I tell if the dual RCA connectors are male and if the 1/8" connector is female? There are two more that hifi.com offers that I know fit the thing I need, but they are more expensive.

let's see

if you already have 2 1/8 inch male to male cables (which i assume you do which are now going from sound card to z-560's) then you don't need to buy new ones (so cross off #3 on list)

that adapter you linked me to from hifi.com or what not is most likely dual rca to MALE 1/8 inch....you would need to then find a female 1/8 inch to dual female 1/8 inch adapter if you used that cord.

part #'s

1) 274-313
2) then get this or the radio shack equivalent
3) then get a dual female 1/8 inch adapter (turns a male into a female)

that's the best i can do man. you'll be able to figure it out

Thanks a lot! (no sarcasm intended, "Sarcasm is the defense of the weak" -from A Separate Peace by John Knowles, I'm not weak, I'm buff... I do track... hahaha) I understand what to get. All of sohcrates' hard work has helped this incompetent individual.
