I have a Gainward 5900 with the VIVO cords. seen here

Video quality aside, my understanding is that shouldn't I be able to plug the the video line from the Xbox to the video in composite on the VIVO cord provided and play? I thought it would be plug and play, turning the Xbox on would automatically start but nothing no luck. So the newb is missing something pretty simple probably.

I'm broke so I'm trying to external VGA box or anything. Just a simple connection to play xbox through the PC onto the monitor. Not connecting an Xbox to a monitor directly, or connecting an Xbox to a network. I had an old video in cord from a ATI 7500 AIW, no luck with that either. ;)

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I have a TV, but that's not what I was asking to connect it to.

The only thing worth playing for PS2 will be GT4. Other than that, it's of no use.

Thanks, come again.

What app does the gainward use for video capture?

Let me see if I understand what you are doing:

You start your computer.

You hook the Xbox up to the video inputs on the card

You start the video capture/preview app on the PC

You start the Xbox.

... and nothing happens?

if you'd READ what was previously posted you'd find your answer.

he wasn't suggestign you SELL your XBOX and BUY a PS2, but rather suggesting you SEARCH using the term PS2 INSTEAD of XBOX. there have been numerous threads covering this.

forget all other video capture programs and get dscaler. can be found at dscaler.org

Cquinn, yeah nothing happens. As far as video capturing, all i have is Windows Movie Maker ;) but it doesn't recognize any device. I'm trying DScaler now, but it's not finding anything either.

MDE, I'll research again using PS2. Sorry after the first two posts i got a little closed minded.

Thanks.
