Connecting Xbox 360 to my monitor

Does your stereo have optical inputs? If so, the VGA cable has optical out, which is why I recommended getting the Toslink cable.

Really? I couldn't tell from the picture. Well in that case I'll just get a toslink to connect to my receiver.

That Xbox VGA cable certainly does not look like it has optical out. It looks like VGA + RCA and that's it.

Actually it does have one. I checked out my original 360 cable and its the same. The port is on back of the big cable that connects the 360 with rca jacks.

So It worked. I have my xbox connected to my monitor through vga, and optical cable running out of the xbox to my stereo. The picture isnt as good as I had hoped for though. I was hoping to be able to incorporate my HDMI input in there somehow. Any thoughts?

so what's wrong with using hdmi and optical? also, if your receiver has hdmi passthrough, that'd be the preferred solution.
