Connecting to Network? It was working with my other PC

I'm setting up a PC with WIN2000 and a Linksys NC100 Ethernet card. The connections are all OK according to the status of the LAN in Win2000 and the Lights on the NIC and the Linksys Hub/Firewall. Now when I open Internet Explorer it says "Detecting Proxy" for about 10 seconds then timesouts.

I know it's not the cables or the hub since I can plug my other pc onto the same cable and the internet works OK. Also the Linksys card is new and there are no warnings in the Device Manager. Are there some settings in Win2000 that I'm not aware of?

Thanks for the help:(

First, make sure all the TCP/IP settings are the same as the other computer. Then, try disabling the autodetect crap by (in IE) doing Tools>Internet Options, then Connections>LAN settings, and uncheck all three boxes. If that doesn't work, click the "Setup" button under the Connections tab and go through the wizard and select LAN as your connection.
