Hi there, I have an XP server at our main office to which I've setup vpn server services. It works fine but all clients have to go directly and logon to that server. Considering I need to get on the main office´s LAN 12 workstations at our secondary office I was thinking to directly connect a router to the vpn server and therefore all statons connected at the secondary office will automatically be on the VPN making it more stable, user won´t need to logon or dial individually to the VPN and most important those stations will have access to our main LAN only and not the open internet.

Any ideas?? I´ve tried configuring 3 or 4 types of routers I have at my disposal with no luck. How coual that be achieved?

thanks !

lolol, what? your first problem is using an "XP server" as a VPN device. get a dedicated hardware appliance for VPN site & client connectivity (ie Cisco ASA 5505 or the like).

edit: welcome to anandtech :p

Thanks for your advice... will suggest to get a box at each site. in the mean, leaving security aside for now, is it at all possible to configure a standard router to connection type PPTP and make it connect to the XP vpn server?

Client/Server VPNs tend to be a lot more troublesome than site-to-site VPNs. I don't think XP is capable of anything but a single Client/Server VPN connection. Windows Server can do both if you want to use a software VPN server at your main site.
