 Help! Please can anyone tell me why my PS/2 mouse wont work when connected, via an adaptor, to the serial port of a system that doesn't have a PS/2 socket.

The mouse works well into another computer with the appropriate socket and the computer works well with a mouse with a serial plug

Forgot to mention, you might also want to try to go to the BIOS setting to see if COM ports are disabled. Just a thought..... :p

Thanks Junglejoe. I have re-booted etc. Also another mouse with serial connector works OK on the system so the bios and the system are OK.

For those adapters to work the mouse has to actually support working in serial mode. From the sound of it yours doesn't. Many new mice don't.
