Hi!

I just got a new Gigabyte nForce based k8ns motherboard for the AMD 939 athlon 64 CPU.

I'm trying to hook up the soundcard up to my Pioneer stereo reciever so i can have sound through the stereos speakers when i watch my downloaded movies on TV via my s-video on the video card instead of my PC speakers.

Every way i've connected the PC to the reciever causes a horrible feeback/noise. I've gotten the sound to come out of the stereo speakers, but its pretty much droned out by the feedback/noise.

I've tried:
- RCA-out port -> RCA cable -> stereo : horrible feeback/noise, cant hear PC.
- Line-out -> adapter -> RCA cable -> stereo : hear computer with horrible feedback/noise.

Notes:
The reciever is roughly 25' away, so i'm using a 25' long RCA cable.
The RCA port doesn't seem to work, I'm not sure why. Perhaps i didn't attach it properly.
Using the same RCA cable connecting to line-out on another PC, i get the same horrible noise but can hear the PC.
Using a different inputs (VCR1, VCR2, TV, AUX) on the stereo reciever produces the same result.

I'm guessing that the line-out is powered, and the stereo expects a non-powered source. Is that correct?

Line-out is a line level output not a speaker output so it should be fine... and even a speaker output will work properly if the volume is low enough to prevent distortion. If your getting feedback then turn off/mute any microphones(webcam?) that you have connected to the computer.
