Anyone able to connect an iphone to a USB hub? I can get my wife's pc to recognize the phone when it's plugged directly into the ports on the pc but not the hub. Hub is usb 2.0 btw and works with other devices.

It's my knowledge that certain hubs just don't work with certain devices. Usually things that act like just storage like flash drives and certain mp3 players will work fine, but devices that require certain software and drivers to work sometimes have issues. I think it has more to do with the USB hub and drivers than the device.

That's what I was thinking but I wanted to know if any other iphone user happens to use a hub? It's just a real PITA to pull her pc out and plug it into the back. Admittedly, the hub I have is a super cheap one but if someone else uses one with no issues I may go purchase a better one.

I have mine connected through my monitor. Does that count?

This thread is just another reminder that I need a 2.0 hub to replace my old one.

An option is to get a hub that either comes with one, or get a plain USB extension wire. This way she won't have to reach behind the PC or pull the PC out. Just unplug the USB extension from the HUB and plug the iPhone cable into the extension.

monoprice.com has them for about $2+shipping. From the sound of things your wife's PC doesn't have front USB jacks so maybe pick up a couple in case you need a second one later on.

I haven't tried the USB extension cables with my iPhone but I have tried them with other devices like MP3 players. No reason why it shouldn't work since it's not a HUB or other device and merely extends the line and USB plug there should be no compatibility issues. Should b pretty much the same as Muadib using the USB plugs on his monitor.
