Connecting External HDD to Xbox 360

So, it's possible. I'm sure some of you probably have a similiar setup so my question is this:

Can I use the 360 to stream pics/videos/files to my laptop from the external HDD?

Basically I just want to use the external HDD as a NAS, but connected through the USB on the 360.

Can I access it just like if I had a NAS sitting on my LAN? With the 360 powered up of course. I have a computer acting as a file server and I'd like to replace it with the 360.

From the look of it, the only real restrictions are that the HDD must be formatted with FAT 32...

TIA

What you are suggesting is totally impossible.

If you want to access that drive from your PC, you will have to plug it in to that PC.

lol, no kidding. I had to take it out of my entertainment center. It got way too hot.

Thanks also Staples, I have a feeling this will be corrected in the near future though.

It's all good, just trying to kill off another PC to spare my electric bill lol

I have an X643000, 250GB, 2x512RAM system running Vista RC2. I have a HDTV tuner card and I record OTA TV feeds with it and it runs folding at home 100% of the time. The power usage of it is 86watts. That is tiny for full CPU use. Might want to get one of those. Got mine of newegg recently. The CPU and the motherboard was $95.

And TIVO is 100% better but I don't have a series 3 for HD.

My Prescott is a fat, power hungry hog.
