well I plan on buying an MP3 player, finally. I am thinking ahead on how to connect it to my car.

I have a sirius radio installed in my car. I know that there are a couple of plugs going from the car into the actual player that look like they may be the same size as a headphone jack. I wouldn't suppose that any of those wires would be able to connect an MP3 player to the stereo, would they?

If it is plugging in to a Line Out port on the Sirius Radio, yes, it will work. I do this in my car. I have a Starmate Replay and a couple ipods that I swap around. I've used a Sansa and Zune before as well.

I'll check where the wire is going.

One thing I was thinking about was how it would actually play, because the sirius plays through a radio station you set on the sirius receiver.

I can do it with XM - assume Sirius works similarly. My car has XM, AM, FM, and plays CDs and MP3s. Just by selecting.

Satellite radio is wonderful. I drove cross country this summer to Ohio and back, then Oregon and back - and always had my same programs. That is really convenient. There is so much to choose from I stopped carrying CDs and MP3s.

so you use the same connections as the XM does? and what is the car radio set to while you use each of them? your car has an MP3 setting? how would that work if you didn't have the XM? does the XM use that option also?

ok, well aside from connections to the antenna and cig lighter, there is only an FM out connection.

any way to connect an MP3 player without having to spend $80 on some shitty accessory?

So what happened to this connection? I know you didn't mistake the antennae or power plug for a stereo cable.

umm, yes? the plugs all go into the back of the player, and I never looked at what they say. the plug that fits into the FM out on the player fits into the line-out of my mp3 player, but i have no idea if that would work, nor if my next MP3 player will have a line out
