Connecting a garden hose to a faucet

The townhouse that I moved into doesn't have an outside faucet to connect a hose to. What do I need to get to connect it to a regular interior sink faucet?

My car needs to be washed. I can wash it easy enough by filling my wash bucket inside and carrying it out; but I can't really rinse it off well that way.

That's what I figured. If you unscrew the small spout/end of a faucet is the threaded end a universal size? Hopefully, I won't have to get an entire new faucet as well.

You can hook it up to your water heater no adapter needed. There is a faucet at the base of the heater used to drain/flush the tank.

It is also good to flush the water heater every now and then and will make the water heater tank last longer.

There are adapters, they were very common during the waterbed trend. Check your local hardware store.

Just go to Lowes or Home Depot or wahtever and ask them...

check your HOA contract, there's a chance you won't be allowed to wash your car in the complex. I'd think if washing was allowed they'd have hose outlets outside for you to use.

No HOA, I'm just leasing while I get used to the new city and find a house. There wasn't anything in the rules form that said anything about washing cars or changing oil in front of the garage.

I don't really have a choice anyways, since I can't go through a carwash.

well, if his water heater is in the basement like our townhouse... that may not work out too well

Unscrew the screen from the end of the faucet. Take that with you. I am pretty sure it is a standard size, if you have one. There is a male - male adapter that will have the same diameter and threading and a regular hose threading on the other end. At Lowe's as mentioned.

Enlighten me? Is it because you're not allowed in the basement? Certainly, it's not because it's below ground level - that won't matter. From heater to faucet to outside or from heater to outside directly is the same change in elevation.

BTW, I used to do this in an apartment from the bathroom sink. I had aquariums and LOTS of plants on the patio. I needed a garden house. It is pretty easy with the little male - male adapter. IF you don't have some fancy sinks without the screens.

well, I was getting at the fact that we'd need like a 300' hose to reach the front.. assuming that's where he wanted it.
