?Connect two old computers, with VGA only, to an LCD

I have two old computers I want to hook up to a single LCD monitor.

Unfortunately, the two computers only have VGA out. The LCD has 1 VGA in, and 1 DVI in.

Is it possible to connect one of the VGA computers to the DVI port of the LCD, using for instance, a VGA to DVI converter?

Thanks.

Wow - $595 - that's worth more than my 2 ancient computers combined!

I am not looking to convert the VGA signal to DVI; but just a simple $10 converter to allow me to attach the VGA cable to the DVI port on the LCD?

Will the DVI on the LCD understand the analog signal?

Hey blinky and cheese - yea, that what I meant - an "adapter" (sorry ribbon. I used the wrong word).

blinky - I think your link answers my question. Thanks.

Most LCD's will NOT take DVI-A signals. So those cheap adapters probably won't help you.

What model of LCD?

"Converts LCD/ DVI port into VGA port, works with most video cards (will not work with DVI-D and DVIS ports) DVI male to VGA Female"

There you have it. I am unaware of any LCDs that this would work for. It's meant for video cards.

I replied to this in your technical support thread on the same issue.

I also think a kmv switch is your best option.

Yea thanks ribbon - my LCD has DVI-D - so I guess the adapter won't work.

YOyo - maybe your solution is indeed the best one.

I misunderstood you ribbon - i initially thought the kvm was that 595$ converter.

Shows how much I know about dvi, video cards, ...
