i have been reading & it seems common practice to use a swicth/hub when sharing a high speed connection, even if its only on a 2 computer LAN.
i have been sharing 56k thru XP's ICS with the LAN running on a direct connection thru Xover cable. but now ADSL finally was installed & i cant share the connection.
it lets me set it up, even finds the web pages, but times out downloading them.
the connection works on the host, the LAN works on its own.
i rang the ISP & they said for an $11 /mth they give you an additional account ($11 for eveyone after that too)
he said that the best way is to use a hub/switch so each computer can log on & off with their own connection.
so i have to buy a hub/switch, but might it work by just sharing the one connection, thru thr hub/switch??
its PPPoE ADSL, do i need a ADSL/cable router ????
any advice would be great !
