I have a set of Logitech X 540 5.1-CH PC multimedia home theater speakers and I have my xbox 360 running to my Panasonic Viera HDTV via HDMI Cable. I wanna know how to hook the speakers up to the TV so that when I play my xbox 360 the sound will come out the t.v. first and then finally out of the speakers. basically I want the speakers to play whatever comes through the t.v., originally I was using RCA cables and had an adapter to get the speakers to work. But now I got the new t.v. and use the HDMI cable, which makes the sound come out of the t.v.

I want the speakers to play everything, regular television, and whatever is on the xbox 360. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Yes, don't use PC speakers for your TV. Buy a 'real' setup. Whether that be a HTIB or better yet, a receiver and some good speakers.

see if your tv has a red and white "audio out" on the back. connect this to your logitechs using whatever adapters are required.

New Onkyo HTIB = great deal

$330 shipped gets you a real Onkyo AVR with full HDMI audio, Audyssey Dynamic EQ/volume, and HDMI 1.4 compatibility + one of the better HTIB speaker sets.

It does have a red and white audio out, and i have the adapter. i would need a dual RCA cable right? where it's red and white rca connections on each end, to go into the adapter?
EDIT:
this is the adapter I currently use to get the 5.1 pc surround into RCA :

the rca cables I use currently are for my xbox. Where would I find rca cables to go from the adapter, to the audio out on my t.v.?

Those speakers cannot do 5.1 without the 5.1 channels being already decoded. The best you can do is to connect the red/white jacks of the tv to the front channel input on the speakers. Logitech uses what they call matrix surround, playing channels that are missing out of phase to simulate surround. When it senses the other inputs are not in use it will use the matrix surround.

You could probably pick up a stand alone audio receiver with analog outputs (probably would run around $100 bucks) and hook the speakers up to that using adapters.

NICE!!
I wish we could get prices like this up here in Canada.
What bugs me is I just purchased a TX-SR607 (verry happy with the performance) only to find out the new TX-SR608 is out with HDMI 1.4a :-(

Oh well.
