Damned shame. We'll undoubtedly have more information wrt the gunman & his motivations over the next few days. It'd be premature to comment until we do.

OTOH, I thought I'd see how the wingnuts were taking it, found that the freepers' site isn't answering...

Well, it did come up after several minutes, but seems to be bogged down...

Of course it is. But before you start chastizing people you might want to take a peek at the comments on different news sites, they're pretty disgusting.

its courageous, but i think for a lot of guys its instinct. especially when you know the kid is just a kid and he emptied all of his rounds....

It isn't actually the first thing that comes to mind, it does make me sad and I'm concerned for the people that are hurt and I hope that they make it, I always feel that way when people are shot. Just because I didn't write it doesn't mean thats not what I was feeling. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

Just makes me angry when scape goats are used to justify things like the shootings, or justify going after certain groups for causing the shooting etc.. It will happen all over the media tonight and on this forum too (see post above). Just sick of all of that shit.

I wonder what people will think if, I repeat if, this was considered a 2nd amendment remedy by the shooter.

No way to know yet, but I admit it was the first thing to come to mind after reading: Democrat, Arizona, head shot.

And no, I don't feel guilty wondering about that.
 
Horrible news, glad they already caught the asshole! My bet is this was either some kind of gang initiation or stunt, or the shooter was another fundie wingnut rout for revenge over her voting a certain way or supporting a certain cause.

At that distance almost any shot to the head with any caliber is life threatening, but I hope the reports of her death are premature all the same. I really don't know anything about her, but she seems to be one of those rare good politicians upon cursory inspection.

Keeping my fingers crossed for her and her staff...
 
At least the shooter didn't commit suicide and perhaps we can get some answers.

I just wish they would not permit his photo to be shown and just refer to him by his inmate id number instead of his name, so that he will not become "famous" from this for eternity.

I hope she pulls thru

Early reports are the shooter looked "hispanic" and shouted something in another language before the shooting started.

Fuuuck. I was just out at another grocery store here in Tucson and there was a lot of hubbub going on, then someone said Gabriel Giffords was shot in the head at Safeway (I was at a Fry's across town at the time). She was a great congresswoman in a crazy redneck state. 13 people shot... sad.
