very small changes in the supply and demand for oil have traditionally lead to huge swings in the price. 1% would probably make a huge difference at this point. also, it signals to the speculators that something will be done.

True enough, but they are still the ones reelecting some of the worst to Congress.

Everybody likes their guy but hates the other guys rep plus the Dems don't have that big or a majority in the house and only 1 more than the Pubs in the Senate so the disapproval spans both parties.
