Congrats to the Pistons and their genuine fans on their team's fine season and awesome, work-horse post-season play. The ring and trophy is very well-deserved. Even as a Laker fan, it does feel good to see Larry Brown finally get that ring that so eluded him throughout all his years at the helm of some good squads. He's a class act and top-notch coach.

We prefer to call it retooling. :p ;)

I'm sorry, its because Allen Iverson is overrated and really do suck. Insert Allen Iverson into any of the
Piston's starting lineup and the series would probably swin in favor of the Lakers. The sole reason the Piston played so well was because they didn't have a whinny ballhogging SuperStar to hord 30 shots a game and then bitch about the rest of the team not having heart.

the best part is that they had to name Billups the MVP since only he and Hamilton speak any form of language that resembles English. I wish they had named Wallace MVP so we could have heard his illiterate ass attempt to speak.

MAke that another 5-6 seasons at least ...hopefully.
The team will fall apart next year and they won't start rebuilding until they offload Shaq.
It will be a looooooong time before the Lakeres are serious contenders again.

I wouldn't mind another great Lakers team if they were more like the Magic Johnson era Lakers. This Laker team was a bunch of Prima Donna's that were just to hard for anyone but a Laker fan to like.

I actually liked the old Lakers prior to this one. Eddie Jones, Elden Campbell, Peeler, Sedale Threatt, and even Van Axel.
Those guys were fun to watch with the passing and the fast break, especially Anthony Peeler and Sadale Threatt. They were all GOOD spotup shooters(except for Campbell), something the Laker team badly needs right now. But they chose to get rid of these guys after Prima Donnas Shaq and Kobe came to town. Shaq needed more shots, so out goes Campbell and Sedale Threatt (Salary casualty). Kobe needed more shots, so out goes Eddie Jones, Anthony Peeler, and Van Axel.

BTW, Larry Brown's wife is hot. Not bad for an old dude.

I haven't seen any news coverage of fires and looting yet. Maybe the LA fans should take note.

Today is the day you'll see all of the Lakers' "faithful" talking about how they really weren't Lakers fans; they wanted Detroit to win all along.

At least they get to move on, cheering for the Yankees, Earnhardt Jr., Dallas, Florida State, and North Carolina.

what they got were two ego trips and bunch of bench warmers. at least they managed to get 3 championships...so i can't say they were a bunch of 'complete' failures.

What's the consensus on Phil Jackson? Is he a good coach or just a guy who got lucky by having a team with all-stars? Personally I think his coaching skills are mediocre, watching him through the finals made me want to scream. He never made the team adjust and the first 3-4 games the lakers probably attempted more jumpshots than layups. Last night's game could have been much better if they maintained the lead in the first quarter, but they pissed that away and it was downhill from there.

I've always been under the opinion that I coulda coached Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippen to a championship.

Really, what more do you need to say to the two of them than, "Go, play good!" :D

malone was the glue that held the team together. everytime he was out do to injury, the team unravelled. when he went down in the finals, so did any chance the team had.

shaq will come back.
GP will come back because nobody else will want him so it's free money for him to opt in for another year.
I hope, really hope, Malone comes back
Kobe will want a sign and trade deal. It will be interesting if any teams are willing to bet against the Eagle County DA.

If kobe leaves and Cup-check picks up some solid FA this summer and a quasi-superstar who doesn't mind giving shaq the ball whenever he feels like playing, Phil might come back. Jeannie Buss will have to do some freaky-deaky stuff out on Phil's Montana Ranch, but her dad will make it worth her efforts.

If Kupchek does his normal mediocre job, Kurt Rambis will be the coach next year and it will be the same as it was last time he was coach... make the playoffs and get bounced.

It's going to be an interesting summer.

Man that is just ignorant. There has been more burning and looting in LA than Detroit in the last couple of decades so just get off that BS.

Seriously; this crap is just lame. The Wings have won quite a few championships lately and the city doesn't burn down. Instead their are absolutely huge parades.
