I just received a hard copy of Intel 2006 Annual Report, Form 10-K and lo and behold, inside the blue cover was a letter from your CEO Paul S. Otellini and I quoted:

"....According to multiple independent review organizations, such as Anandtech.com...."

Yes, Anandtech.com was the ONLY organization mentioned in this letter among all the tech web sites.

I know that it is highly unusual to single out a web site by a multi-billion company like Intel to its shareholders so we all owe a great deal of gratitude for Anand and his team for providing us with excellent, accurate and independent reviews of new microprocessors and memories and technologies.

Again congratulations and thank you Anand, Gary Key and your team.

I wonder why they were singled out.

What's with this Intel Resource Center? Special sponsorship from Intel? (this is linked on the last page of the article, next to the "Home" link where the Next Page link usually appears)

I still trust these guys as reviewers, and I know they get parts sent for free and still maintain integrity in their reviews, but this seems a little too close for comfort.

The fact that it's linked directly from a Intel chip review is the shadiest part. Did Intel pay for that placement?

At first I thought it was just some convenient new category, because of the way the URL was set up as a subdirectory under cpuchipsets, and I figured there'd be one for AMD too and maybe even via, but swapping amd for intel in the url gave error 404: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/amd/default.aspx

I would think the url should at least be something like "ads.anandtech.com/intelresourcecenter" given that this is a "sponsored" (advertisment) page.
