I feel bad for the guy he's fighting, in a lose-lose situation. It's like fighting a girl

I had a friend in high school who was on the wrestling team. One week, they were competing against a team who had a girl on it.

My friend had to go up against her and at first he didn't know how to handle it and let her win. His coach yelled at him and told him to treat her like a guy. So the next round he did and the girl got pissed off because her touched her in inappropriate places. I personally thought it was hilarious.

The problem is that Kyle is a 200 lb framed man in a 135 lb compacted body. He is going to be overwhelmed when it comes to striking and won't have much of a chance. Also, will he be permanently considered a "downed opponent"? If so, you cannot strike him which takes away an integral part of MMA. There just aren't enough accomplished quad amputees out there to compete in an organization so he has to fight in specially organized events like this. I have no idea how he'd ever make it into the UFC though. They can't change their rules to accommodate one individual. It's not really fair to his opponent if they do.

Here's an inspirational video on him. I really do wish him all the best! But his MMA career most likely won't last long.

A kid is born as just a head. When he finally hits 21, his dad takes him out for drinks. He sets his kid up on the barstool, and orders him a whiskey.

After he takes a drink, he suddenly sprouts a torso and arms.

"Holy shit, ill have another" he said

He takes the next drink, and magically sprouts legs.

"Woohoo! I am finally whole!"

He is so excited, that he runs out into the street and WHAM! he gets hit by a bus right outside the bar.

Everyone runs outside to see the body, and the bartender says:

"He shoulda quit while he was ahead"

I don't think they should let him fight. He's going to get killed. You could just pick him up by the head and he really couldn't do anything could he? Sure, he might wiggle around a bit, but get a good grip and its all over.

I don't why, but this ^ made me LOL.

I understand that he can do what he wants etc, but this is phenominally stupid.

Makes you wonder about the IQ of some people, wow.

do you even know what you are talking about?

This kid nearly won states in Georgia for wrestling, held a World's strongest teen title for lifting, wrote a very successful book and has accomplished more in his life with all that is going against him then you would ever hope to achieve.

You are just internet tough guy living in your mother's house. Wonder what your IQ is...

According to the rules, you wouldn't be allowed to kick him as he is considered "grounded" at all times. Thus, the only way to punch him is to get down on your knees and give it a go...

Damn man. 😛

In all reality, did you watch the lifting video? He barely moved the weights. 😛 I understand that he's an amputee but what's the point in setting a record if the rules are changed for an individual? Is he a tough dude? Hell yeah. Is he a good wrestler? Apparently. Will the MMA fight be any good? Doubtful. He can't be struck, so it was essentially be a wrestling match rather than an MMA fight. Will he beat someone twice his size who is, most likely, also good on the mat? I doubt it. Kudos to him for trying, but I just don't see this going well for him.

404 internet tough guy not found. So now you're labeled an e-thug simply for questioning the intellect of a no armed no legged man getting into the octagon with a world class (albeit hand picked I'm sure) fighter?

Those are some pretty impressive accomplishments that you listed, but it still doesn't make up for the fact that dude has no arms and no legs.

who did he fight, a retarded midget? seriously, this is fucking stupid unless he was fighting another severely handicapped fighter. I'd pay to see him fight kimbo(i'll beat the kimbo haters to it, stumps would win)

Was the other guy paid to not make Maynard look silly. Going for the gold is an understatement. Seems like Maynard is trying to make a new color

About 30 seconds in you can tell that even he thinks what he's doing is ridiculous. His face at the end of that video says it all. Frustration and realization. I don't know what he thought he was going to be able to do against a fighter with 24x the reach and the ability to cover his own face if needed...

Edit: In the spirit of the thing, I've got to give the guy props for trying. But MMA should have never let this go through. They should have held an exhibition or training fight and seen what Kyle could do in in the heat of battle before they let him go out there like that. If the other fighter had been aggressive, this would have been a blood bath.
