Hi everyone,

I am looking to by some Optical and SPDIF cables for my speakers but just can't seem to make up my mind. I know that Monster is the ultimate choice but they cost bomb, whereas cablesforless.com offers cables that are stupendously cheap when compared to Monster. How's that? I'm kinda confused here....should I buy Monster...are they really worth it?

Thx,
Steam

No Monster Cable is not considered the ultimate by audiophiles; in fact, must think of them as junk. I paid around 675 for my cables and that is borderline when it comes to good cables. The general rule is to spend from 10-15 percent of your total audio setup on cables. If you are just looking for good cables for speakers then 14-guage should be your minimum. Optical cables are a rip so go with SPDIF whenever possible. If you have a specific need and a price bracket I could recommend reasonable cables.

Optical/SPDIF usually either works or doesn't and all the phase-shifted hyperoxygenated coppride wirons in the world won't make a difference.

Monster prices are generally at least double what they should be for the materials, more often 3x - 10x.

Go with cablesforless.

Particularly if you are talking about audio for your PC......no question, I would not spend much. Reg. Monster, definitely NOT quality cable from an audiophile standpoint-not even in the ballpark. MIT cable(my favorite) and companies of that ilk are favored.

for my Logitech Z-680 setup, I did use Monster Cable, but it's their 14 guage 50' spool that I paid about $35 for. I got them for astetics more than sound quality. The white matches my ceiling where my wires come out into the speakers!
