new to this new boards , my last board was a soyo dragon where it was pretty simple, i increase my fsb to 140 and my memory also went up to 140.
With this new board I am confused i set my fsb at 166 (so that the 1/5 divider kicks in) but there is an option to set the dram from 133 to 166.
I only have a crucial pc2100,

question 1: if i leave the dram at 133 will it go up to 166 when I increase my fsb to 166?

question2: are these new boards asynchronus, meaning no matter what fsb you use the dram will stay where you set them 133 or 166?

question 3: how are people getting there memory up to 170 to 200 when the choce for dram are only 133 or 166?

at the moment I have my xp1600 running at 10.5 x 166, and left my dram at 133, is there a way to see what memory speed you are running in windows (wcpuid or sandra?)

sorry for the newbie like question as mentioned these new boards are alien to me

i could be wrong (so plz someone correct me if i am :) )

but i belive the board only supports running the mem in 1 of 2 configs
1 mem=fsb (synchrounous)
2 mem=fsb+pci (asynchrounous) this would be the 166mhz mem when the fsb is 133mhz

so the setting for 133mhz will actually just keep the mem the same as the fsb (so if you have 166mhz fsb then your mem is also that speed)
and easy way to check would be to set it that way then use some diagnostic tool to check the memory bus (something like sandra)

You may be right

I have the DRAM setting at 133 but have my fsb set at 166. At boot up it shows my dram at (333mhz).
I thought setting the dram to 133 or 166 would lock it at that.
its just confusing , i thought there would be a cpu mem ratio like the intel boards.

so if I set my dram to 166 and set my fsb to 166 then my actual dram would be 199 (400mhz) no wonder my crucial 2100 couldnt hack it

this is no where on the manual by the way
Thanks for reply

Since you are running an Athlon, your FSB is set at 166 and youre using DDR memory your memory speed is 333. FSB X2 is DRAM speed. My FSB is 140 and my DRAM is 280.

if its showing your dram at 333mhz then its running synchronous with the fsb 166/166 for fsb and mem respectivly
