ok all these damn processors are confusing as hell

Pentium = socket 7
Cyrix MII = socket 7
Pentuim II = slot 1?
Pentium III = ?
P4 = ?
Tbird = socket A?
Duron = ?
K6III = ?

anyone want to teach class for a few minutes?

I can help with a few:

Pentuim II = Slot 1
Pentium III = Slot 1/Socket-370 (FCPGA)
P4 = Socket-478 (I think it's 478... maybe 462... or is that Socket A? Hmm... I think P4 is 478)
Tbird = Slot A (up to 1GHz)/Socket A
Duron = Socket A

ok let me clarify:

K6-II/III= Socket 7(Super 7)
Pentuim II = Slot 1
Celeron (Mendecino) = Slot 1, Socket 370
Celeron II(Coppermine) = FC-PGA
Pentium III(Katmai/Coppermine) = Slot 1, FC-PGA
Pentium IV = Socket 462
Athlon Classic = Slot A(up to 1Ghz)
Athlon Tbird = Slot A, Socket A
Duron = Socket A

think I'll just get a Tbird for my K7T Pro 2A
unless i find a good Duron that o/c's real well

BTW.thnx for all your replies guys

maybe it would be nice if someone could explain why intel chose such weird numbers for their different architectures.
