Confused by my vcore

I am getting different readings for my vcore and i think the vcore setting in my BIOS is messed up.

In the BIOS the lowest i can set the vcore is 1.325v. If i press the minus key on this setting it actually increases the voltage to 1.345 and if i press + then it decreases, but because it won't let me go lower than 1.325 it goes to the highest setting which is 1.9 something.

However, i currently have it set to 1.325 (not much choice) and both speedfan and cpu-z are detecting it at 1.28. This may be because of vdroop (which admitedly i know nothing about) but my main concern is not being able to lower it under 1.325.

I have a Q6600 (9x333) on an Abit ip35-e.

Thanks.

welcome to AT.

do you really need to go below 1.325? are you having heat issues that you need to lower the voltage?

Thanks =)

Well i guess my temps are fine (31 idle 50 load) but it is just nice to know the option is there. Its less stress on my PSU and i think 1.3v is a bit overkill for this overclock when i could probably run stable at around 1.26 or 1.27.

then why dont you run 400x8 for 3.2G

then you would be using 1.325 volts purposefully.

Is there any advantage to 400x8?

I ask because by pc will not post using 400x8 but will using 356x9 on stock voltage settings

well, at least for F@H, I got a 20% increase in speed going from 350 something to 460 something FSB. Right now I am at 450x7. The extra fsb speed feeds the 4 hungry cores faster.

I have the abit as well and would like it to drop as my temps are a bit high for my taste.

Although since it is so high, I've been able to OC up to 333x9 with a 1C temp increase, since the vcore was so high. I believe it's due to the shitty lap job, but I'll check it some other time.
