The HP has the better video card but the slower CPU. But it will be your best choice in gaming. When it comes down to it the video card is the thing you'll need for gaming. The Lenovo is a buisness class system and can't deal with gaming.

Lenovo has a good reputation for quality, but you'd have to do some research on the particular model that interests you, but no manufacturer can guarantee zero failures so you want to buy from a manufacturer that provides good tech support.

From personal experience, I have no hesitation recommending HP, and they have better units than the DV6-1110AX you list in your price range. Newegg.com has the HP Pavilion dv7-2170us for $1,049 with a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM (8 GB max), a 500GB HDD, built in webcam and a beautiful 17.3? display.

Specs from HP.

HP also has other Intel based dv7 models with a Core 2 Quad CPU.

If you're in the U.S., see my post in Hot Deals about Office Depot's sale on the similar Athlon 64 x2 based dv7-1444us for $500 after rebate starting tomorrow. I've seen this machine in action, and it's really nice. If it meets your needs, while it's on sale, you could get a matched pair for $1,000. :D

Hope that helps. :)

the big question is 'what games'?

the 4650 is the stongest card, 130m will be a little slower, not sure about the 4570.

none of them are terribly beefy. all are slower than the 9800M cards, which is probably what i would aim for if you want to play recent games.
