Confused about CPU speed

I just bought an E5200 Wolfdale processor and I am in the process of overclocking it.

I'm confused about what its actual speed is. Core Temp and BIOS say it's 1907MHz (212*9.0) but when I right click on Computer in the start menu and go to properties, it gives this information:

Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU
E5200 @ 2.50GHz
2.65 GHz

I'm running Windows XP SP3. By the way, is 41C a good load temp?

I guess you missed this sticky ... http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2164014&enterthread=y

Have CoreTemp open and open Firefox or something that uses the CPU and watch the frequency go up from 1907Mhz to 2.65Ghz or whatever. The CPU is downclocked to save power and lower the heat when not in use. It can be disabled in the BIOS. Read the above thread for more information.

If you reduce the multiplier on your CPU, that isn't reflected in the System Properties info. That is based on the stock multi, as best I can tell.

There is a CPUID command that pulls *text* info directly from the CPU - make, model, speed, etc. This is nothing more than text/string info placed there by the CPU manufacturer. This is where

"right click on Computer in the start menu and go to properties, it gives this information:"

gets its information from and does not reflect any overclocks or any FSB/multi changes.
