Conflict between SP2 and IE6

I have had to roll back SP2 twice now because once I install it IE6 doesn't work. I start IE6 and than it closes without any command from me. Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't want to switch browsers or OS's.

Thanks

Maybe your system has some malware stuck to it. If you haven't already, try Spybot Search & Destroy and Lavasoft Ad-Aware, update them and run scans in Safe Mode to see if your system's clean of major adware/spyware. If it has some and it keeps returning, then post a HJT logfile in Schadenfroh's stickied thread in Software for diagnosis.

Does Event Viewer have any light to shed on the hangup? Is a clean Windows install an option?

In Control Panel, go to Performance & Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer.

Looked at event viewer. Nothing there. This happened a while ago and event viewer doesn't go far enough back. My dad looked at it back then and says he could find no explanation for my systems behavior. Also, when I removed SP2 I had to do a regular install of XP. When I tried to use Add/Remove programs, I got some message about Bosnian not being a supported language for unicode. It referred me to document which did not exist.
