it's a shame they're viewed as 3 rate. Pentax (Asahi) optics have always been excellent. IMHO, some of thier lenses for 35mm exceeded Nikon's in optical quality.

Maybe after Pentax has some high end, professional gear out there, people will stop viewing Pentax as a third rate brand.

I don't see why people view them that way. They make some high quality products. I guess it's just C/N syndrome.
 
It's about Friggin time, since Pentax hasn't really released a "new" Digital SLR since the *ist DS about 18 months ago. Every model after that has had only minor changes, most of them cosmetic.

I agree. And even the *ist DS wasn't much different from the *ist D. It's kinda like going from 20D to 350D.
They really need a flagship DSLR to boost their image.
 
They seem to enjoy being the "diamond in the rough" brand that few notice, but those who do are immensely satisfied.
