Confirmed: Nintendo used Gamecube housing for Wii E3 demos

They claim they weren't trying to trick anybody and that the systems were manufactured only for E3 usage. I don't know if I should feel deceived or what, but I guess it was just a demo show. I doubt Nintendo would put a model on the floor that wasn't exactly what gamers could expect come November.

I don't see how this is a big deal, (suposedly) most of the PS3 games were running on DevKits and at last years E3 xbox360 games were running on Mac G5s.
Not having final hardware at E3 is not indicitive of how the final product will be.

If I'm reading this right (can't open link now), you're worried about the plastic case Nintendo used to hold together Wii hardware for a demo? If so, this is one of those times when I'm ashamed to be a geek.

I thought this was even well known. Haven't developers been using fancied up Gamecubes in their devkits?

I know I saw some pics of a demo booth with actual Wii consoles sitting in front of the screens, but maybe they were fake and the real running hardware was hidden.

I've never really followed E3 so, I didn't know about this. I don't like speculation. It leads to nothing but disappoinments. Anyway, if I remember right PS3 demos were on suped up PS2s and the original Xbox demos were on a Pentium I believe.

i don't see what the big deal is... heck, even if they used an actual gamecube, that would mean that the games don't require much horsepower to run them. It's not like they were using a competitor's product, like say the 360 instead... now that would be hilarious.

That would be pretty damn funny. But if the GC can run those Revo games that must mean that the GC is pretty powerful.

well, the internals of the GC shell was the Wii.

Well, then again, I stopped underestimating my gamecube after I saw Zelda windwaker, and RE4.

RE4 was amazing visually and incredibly fun. Definitely among the top 10 single player games i've ever played. (among the lists are the classic lucas arts games of the mid90s, CoD ONE(1), not two damn it), sim city 2k, MGS 1.)
