*CONFIRMED* My eBay and Yahoo accounts have been h@XZ0R3D!

I was sitting at the computer, minding my own business when Trillian says I have an eBay bid confrim message in my Yahoo account. Funny, because I don't ever use the Yahoo e-mail account. So I go to sign in to check it out. It won't let me login. So I try requesting a password. Yep, didn't work either. The fsking hacker probably changed that information. I e-mailed yahoo and ebay, but they were asking for the same information. I specifically told them that it wasn't right, BECUASE IT WAS CHANGED.

Am I just freaking out, or is this real? Anyone have any experience? Please advise.

*Edit* Yeah, totally haxored. Check out the projector I bid on: Projector

UPDATE:
eBay got back to me and said that
It appears that your account was taken over by a third party in order to bid on items without your authorization

DUH. So, I was able to change my password and e-mail back to my own, login, and low and behold, the guy left his own address there! Poked around a bit more and found a phone number that matches the address. So, I gave the FBI a report, and our local PD. Hopefully I should hear back from them tomorrow. I'll keep this post updated too.

Maybe search for your id on Ebay and see what "you've" been bidding on. You may want to email the auction owner and let him/her know what's up. Maybe you could even work with them and get the guy's shipping information, name, etc. after he wins the auction...

Bingo...looks like I placed a bid on a projector. Check out the bid history. eBay is same name as forums.

link right or stop posting

You too 😛

wtf are you talking about. He didn't link anything.

Yes he did, he "corrected" the link.

[Edit] Gah, now the Forum is showing the link the right "way around". Sigh.

Maybe some confusion, but it seemed you were talking about Pepsi90919. He just quoted the other link, he didn't correct it.

If you bid on that projector and blew the two grand on medicated anal pads don't come in here looking for an out.

Hey, this is serious. Anyway, would I be complaining that I blew it on the projector when I'm not winning the auction?

sounds like a good idea. most likely will be a PO box though.

how did your password get grabbed? did u do a full virus scan and spyware search? since you're AToT l33t we can rule out phishing right?

Nada...full virus and spyware, nothing. And phishing scams are for n00bs 😉.

do you use public computers? do you have firewall? what internet you use? a wireless connection?

really, i'm curious to find out why such a thing can happen so it can never happen to me. it would suck if i forget ebay for a while and never check it then found out i won an auction to the right of a russian bride....

- Haven't placed bids or anything on public computers within the last couple weeks. Heck, haven't even looged into Yahoo for a while now.
- We are behind a Linksys SPI firewall
- 10/100BaseT wired conneciton.

I would love to figure out how this happened.
