You just made my point. This thread is full of voices from people who don't know baseball, if that's the way you like your thread to be, then fine.

The point of that reply that started this discussion is that I didn't make the thread neutral b/c I am an Angels' fan. I'm not intending to make any sort of commentary about the replies posted in this thread by those other then myself.

You didn't have to make it neutral, if you like your thread being like this. I just thought that a neutral thread might draw more people who know baseball and be filled with more intelligent responses.

Oh, ok. Just wondering, but do you think the title of a thread will stop anyone posting in OT from posting in a particular thread?

Of course not, Im a Giants fan, and I posted on your Angels' thread, I'm coming in here becaues I like baseball and both the Angels and the Giants play excellent ball. But the point is, if this thread was neutral, I bet you you'd see more true baseball fans instead.

awesome series man..AWESOME!!!!!! best world series i've seen since the dodgers won it in the late 80's.........i'm leaning more towards the angels cuz i'm from the area...but bonds needs a championship....we'll see...i can't wait!

Kudos to the Angels, I still can't believed they pulled this one off the Giants bullpen trio, but it's the WS, things happen. The Giants are kind of old, and a lot of those guys have been playing 10+ season for a ring, so I think they're more deserving. The Angels are young and talented, they have more time and chances to win it. For the Giants it might be their last opportunity in quite some time.

Tell that to Tim Salmon, Garret Anderson, Troy Percival or Kevin Appier. While those guys aren't senior citizens like some of those Giants', they've been playing a long time also. While Angels' fans say they want to win on for Gene, I say the better team should win. Sure I wanted Marino to win a SuperBowl, but if his team can't then I guess that's the way the history book will be written.

I'm not saying you are. But look at Anaheim's attendance early in the season when they were 4-16! The Anaheim Angels were never a team that draws a lot of people until later this season. The crowd at Edison this October are basically people who just picked up baseball in Anaheim, and LA fans jumping on the wagon 'cause their scum Dodgers couldn't catch the Giants. Seriously, how many people who've posted on this thread followed the 2002 MLB season on a regular basis? You could probably count on one hand.
I'm not sure what value this arguement has at all in pro sports. People support good products...hardware or software or whatever...because its quality...not because they were loyal to the product ever since its conception when it sucked. So why should fans be discredited because they didn't support a team when they sucked...even when the teams own owners don't support it by paying for quality players etc.

Put a good product on the field and people will support it. The ticket prices and the concession stands are way to expensive to go see a crappy 'minor league team' get their buts kicked every time.

On another note, minor leagues/teams (A, AA, AAA etc.) can be much more fun to support because they are much less expensive and expectations are more reasonable.

and if the giants had been losers for the last decade and didnt have a new park im sure their attendance would be crap also

I'm sure after this world series, the Angels will have a larger fanbase that will stick with them through thick and thin....like Red Sox and Cubs fans.

Probably, but knowing socal fans....

I remember going to a Lakers' playoff game in the mid 90's and it not being sold out.

That's what I hate about L.A. I love the city and the teams, but too many fake people make us look bad. Especially with NBC showing all the f*cking celebrities in the stands during Lakers games instead of the true fans who are sitting in nosebleed.

Congratulations to the Anaheim Angels. This was a great world series to watch, those people outside of California who weren't watching have missed some great baseball games. Again, I'm happy with what the Giants have done, they've exceeded everyone's expectations, and they went down fighting hard. What a great season for San Francisco. I'm relieved now that it's over.

It's funny, you hope your team makes it to the playoffs but when they do you are a nervous wreck unless they blow the other team out! Must be nice being a Dodger Fan, you don't have to worry about the playoffs🙂

Man, throwin' in all the cheap shots today. Course, where would your Giants' be w/o former Dodger Dusty Baker?

Either way man, stop with the Dodger bashing if just for a few hours. You notice I've said nothing about the Giants.
Hey it's not my fault your Dodgers suck. BTW, I'm an A's fan. I'm just real familiar with the Giants as they are the most popular team in the Bay Area. If it were between the A's and the Giants I would be bashing the Giants right now for choking hard in last nights game. THey had the Halos on the Ropes and blew it. After that I knew after that it was all academic as the Angels had the big Mo on their side.
