Confirmation ON AGP2.0 and 3.0 Compatibility

I read the sticky from Schadenfroh and if I interpreted it correctly an AGP 3.0 compliant video card, will work in my gigabyte GA-7VTX (AGP 2.0 compliant) MB. Is this right?

Yes as long as that board suppports 1.5V you should be fine. AGP3.0 spec calls for .8V but is backwards compatible with the 1.5V2.0 spec. If you have a 1.0spec, 3.3Volt you are screwed though.

Generally if your card supports AGP4x you should be fine.

Thanks for the quick responses. Time to get rid of my old ATI 7000. Now to decide if I want to go Nvidia or ATI. Guess that will depend on the best bang for the buck I can find.
