hi,

My aim is to test and verify my wlan is well secured and safe.
so i'd like to use wireshark with my wnda3100 adapter (usb netgear).

but once, wireshark is installed, it doesn't show my usb wireless adapter.

Do you know why ?

My Os windows xp is original sp3 updated, and my drivers are Ok : 3.0.0.141

thanks for your little help.

Mike

best regards

I haven't tried it myself, but this is from the Wireshark FAQ:

You cannot directly capture raw USB traffic on Windows with Wireshark/WinPcap. However, see the Tools page for some alternatives.

oops i think my expression was bad.
i do not want to capture and analyze my usb traffic.
i want to analyse a wireless traffic throught my network card which is a usb adapter (netgear wnda3100).
wireshark ask me to choose a adapter to analyze, it proposes me my ethernet wire link interface but not my wireless interface (the usb key one!)

If you use WPA or WPA2 it is secure.

I any case you can disable the wire connection while the Wireless is On.

i solved my problem.
in fact my usb adapter is named as Atheros OTUS wireless network adapter instead of Netgear WNDA3100. so i didn't understand it was it !
and now it runs ! (cause i disabled promiscuous mode)
