Configuring RAID5 array

Helo friends,

I need some help with understanding what is RAID5 array and how does it work, what are it's advantages/disadvantages.

I have configured RAID0 and RAID1 arrays but never RAID5. I would also like to ask what should i do in this particular case. I will have IBM server with 3 hard disks in RAID5. colleagues will want me to add one more drive to the same array and make it 4 hdd RAID5 array. Can anyone give me some advice and help me since i haven't configured something like this yet and my new responsibility is to learn everything about it.
