Hi folks,

I have tried many times to configure my onboard sound card alas FAILED. Please guide me. I would appreciated very much for ur kind assistance, Thanks !
I have tried to edit /etc/modules.conf and add in the following code

alias sound sb
options sound ioaddr=E800-E8FF irq=5

1st. You have to enable the function in BIOS.
2nd. D/L driver from VIA
3rd. Depending on your OS, the installation of driver is slightly different.

Check the ReadMe in driver.

Which Linux distro? Any modern distro w/ ALSA will probably detect onboard AC97 audio. I know SuSE does (because I've done it before).

Red Hat's documentation describes how to setup sound.

sndconfig is a text-mode utility that you start in a command-line shell, as the root user. I don't use Red Hat so I can't go into further detail on the actual steps, but read the docs and give it a try. Let us know if you get stuck.
