Configure outlook express, to send mail only.

I need to be able to configure outlook express (6) to send mail, but not receive it. I've tried putting in a . as the pop3 account but then it will not connect and send the mail through the SMTP. I need to send through the SMTP only. Connecting to the pop3 and checking, but not receiving, is an option if it is available. Thanks in advance

Do you mean you want to leave your email on the pop3 server?

If so, setup the account as you usually do, then go into advanced options and check the box that says "leave messages on server".

you can try entering localhost for the pop server. so you will fail on get mail requests. but if you have your user name, password and smtp server set correctly, you should be able to send mail.

No, what I need to do is to be able to check the pop server, but not download anything into outlook.

Or

Make the SMTP server work without having to check the pop server.

my way will do that. it will not check the pop, but you will be able to send from the SMTP.
