Configure a laptop as a WLAN AP?

Has anyone been able to successfully configure a Windows XP machine as a wireless access point? I assume this can be done by sharing the wireless connection, but I enabled it and don't know what to do after that. I have seen a program available for this called Seque, I believe, but they don't offer a free evaluation. I don't want to spend money on the software and have it not work the way I want it. Also, I have a hard time paying for something that I think can be done without third party software. I know there are some Linux projects working on this, but my laptop is using XP :-(. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Sharing a wireless link won't make it an AP. If you put the client card in Ad Hoc mode, and all the other clients in Ad Hoc as well, then you will have a Peer to Peer WLAN. No AP Simulation, ie Infrastructure mode with MAC addy tables, ACL's, et al. in windows. Not natively. You can either get a third party solution for Windows or go the Linux route.
