Private companies that hold themselves open to the public must serve the public. That's part and parcel of them being open to the...wait for it...public.

If a private company that serves icecream decides that it isn't going to serve a certain type of person, then it's going to run into legal problems. This is called reality. Welcome to it.

If a private company that serves icecream decides not to serve vanilla bean icecream to anyone, by removing it from their menu, then there aren't any legal problems.

Would you be okay with a restaurant that caters to white folks only, since it would provide a unique experience for those interested in associating amongst their kind? It would be a market advantage since they would have regular customers, a niche but profitable market.

Would you be okay with a Christian bakery refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple? since it is against their personal beliefs, and they primarily cater to a christian customer base?

Was CBS racist for running the show in the first place? Was Chrysler Corp. racist for allowing one of their cars to have the confederate flag on it? Even moderate / liberal professors are now expressing fear of their students if they come across as 'not sensitive enough' - google it.

Why don't you libs practice what you preach and take a look at how the victims of that horrific event in Charleston responded.

If a group managed to get a show that had lots of gay sexual activity canceled, I doubt anyone of the usual suspects on here would be praising the free market, as was done in a prior post.

Yeah, I know I'm gonna get flamed royally by the usual suspects on here, but I couldn't care less. The usual suspects would rather rage that someone dared to call attention to their blatant hypocrisy. Removing a product for consumption does not equal descrimination.

Not selling a product to a costumer based on their beliefs, sex, race, etc can be descriminitory.

Why did they pull the show? Did they get complaints? I don't even watch that show since its pretty lame, but I think it is so stupid that this is what goes on when one dude does something bad.

I find the Dukes of Hazzard thing more than a touch ridiculous. When the show aired it was criticized for painting white Southern rednecks as stereotyped white Southern rednecks. Now it is being pulled because it might be construed as promoting racism against blacks? The modern world is a strange and wonderous place.
