This have been on clearance for a while now. My local staples had the 900VA for $59 so I PM'd at CC which had a $30 rebate on it. So I got it for $28 or so. I might have to go back this week and PM again if my local staples has reduced the price again.

HOT, they've got 3 of the 900s nearby. I'll try and grab a $10 off $40 coupon and go pick one up.

I bought one 28 days ago for 59.90. Went back today, did a return/rebuy w/$10 off $40 coupon. I believe the price on these just dropped yesterday or today.

If your store is sold out, you can always order it through their kiosk, pay at the register and have them pm their instore price.

Just got a 900VA. It's definitely an APC, got the exact same button configuration, same back panel layout and includes APC's software.

Good deal.

Wow, I didn't know they'd do that. Is that store-wide policy, or YMMV by manager?

Thanks render for the heads-up on this deal. I first tried to see if I could get Staples.com to pricematch your NJ B&M on the 900VA model. The CSR was very cooperative, but once they determined this was a discontinued item, I was told that Staples.com can't pricematch B&M discontinued items. So I called my local Staples store this morning, and low-and-behold, they had 2 in stock and the price is $41.50/ea. I went down there and bought them both, on two different receipts, and used a "$10 off $40" coupon on each. So, the cost was $31.50/ea. + tax. Screaming! Thanks again.

For those who weren't aware, these were absolutely identical to the APC Back-UPS Pro models. After being out on the market for about 6 months, the Conext models got a slight change in the contour of the plastic faceplate, so they were no longer absolutely identical to the APC model. When the Conext first appeared on the market 1.5 years ago, I couldn't understand why they were the same exact thing as the APC models, yet half the price. I called APC and rep. tiptoed around my question "Is this the same unit as the APC models?" All they said is that that the two products share some parts. I have the APC models as well, and can't detect any difference whatsoever. This is a great UPS, just wish it was USB instead of serial.

Not sure which part of my post you're quesitoning but if it's the return/rebuy...their 14 day return policy only applies to computers, peripherals, printers/all-in-ones, faxes, copiers, monitors, scanners, handhelds, and digital cameras.

Everything else has a 30 day return policy.

If you're wondering about ordering through the store kiosk and having them pm the instore price, no it's not company policy but the csr's will do this.

I went back to CC and they PM'd again to the new lower price. So I'll get it for $10 bucks after the rebate. Cool.

Don't forget that the APC 650 is also on clearance at Staples. It's $45.

The Conext brand was supposed to be the "consumer" version of the low end APC models.

Got one at my local Staples. Finally was able to put my $30 GC to good use.

It has 2 short female plugs at the back so it can take brick power cords. Very heavy at around 28 lbs.

Woohoo... I got one for $45 + tax. I've got plenty of reserve power now. The Conext will backup my 19" LCD, router, & DSL modem while my APC Back-UPS Pro 650 backups my computer :D

Actually, it's not 100% identical. I've just compare the Conext 900VA to my APC Back-UPS Pro 650. The APC can handle 410 joules compare to the Conext of 320 joules. The Conext will have more reserve power though.

zuffy, I still have the orig. box to my APC Back-UPS Pro 650, and it lists it at 400 joules. Where did you find the Conext spec.?

I got it from the link posted by GtPrOjEcTX. btw, APC's site listed the Back-UPS Pro 650 at 480 joules

The joules rating has to do with surge supression. I wouldn't be at all suprised if a higher VA model has less joule capacity. The bigger the model, the more it is a good UPS and not just a surge supressor.
