Hmm USA meddles in Iranian affairs for decades.
Populist movement overthrows corrupt regime . . . curiously new leadership isn't very friendly to the USA.
Iran is subsequently attacked by US-supported megalomaniac/human rights disaster . . . curiously the Iranians aren't very friendly to the USA.
Latest tool to occupy 1600PA labels the regime in Iran part of an axis of evil and pledges support for the people of Iran . . . moderates in Iran undergo an unprecedented loss of influence . . . curiously moderates and radicals aren't very supportive of US foreign policy.
For the past five years, the Bush Regime has made veiled and not so veiled threats against Iran . . . curiously Iran isn't very friendly to the USA.

U.S and Iran have been going at it for 26 years.
Iran is basically pushing the U.S and the U.S is just standing by allowing them to push.
One of these days the U.S is going to slap them in the face.
Despite a well-demarcated starting point . . . your ignorance of US-Iranian relations knows no bounds.
In short, we are screwed due to past transgressions, misunderstandings, and occasional willful offenses by both sides. Irreconcilable differences . . . sure they want to dominate the region +/- blow up Israel . . . we want to dominate the region AND the world. Unfortunatley, their leadership ("elected" and otherwise) sux . . . our leadership sux worse but the reign of Condoleezza "Cold War mentality" Rice and George "what do you mean Israel is the only country with nukes" Bush has an expiration date.
You can defend the Iranian people
do not defend the Iranian regime
thanks.
speaking of which, when are the "Iranian people" going to step up and get rid of their whacked out fanatical government for us? anytime now?
just hoping...
Not going to happen tomorrow.
The movements are there.. even on places such as myspace:

All these people who are part of these movements go to Iran and return saying "I love it there". Yet, they want the govt. to fall.
This is life in Iran:

The people are not suffering. They are out having fun. Iran's population is 70% young.
The govt. might be horrible, but the economy is growing at fast rates (6-8% year). In 1999 the govt. saw the worst riots and hundreds were arrested and beaten up. In 1999 Iran's economy was a disaster.
The last President before the current psycho President was a cool guy. He wanted to change Iran, but he was a coward with no balls. He calmed the people down because he gave people hope. However, any attempt of change was easily blocked by the head mullahs who control Iran. He simply put his head down like a coward and let them walk all over him. In the end he was no different from the idiots who run Iran.
That is why since 1999 on top of the economy growing there have not been any major riots.,
Today .. the Iranian people are not worried about changing their govt. They are worried about an invasion from the U.S or an attack. They believe nuclear power is their right. Iranians are easily united when an outside party attacks them. It unites the entire country. Afghans and Iraqis wanted the U.S to invade them.
Even after the fall of the Shah, the entire country was not in favor of Khomeini. Yet, when the Arabs invaded all Iranians came together and put their differences aside.
