Turn on the TV and summarize it for yourself.

She's saying the nuclear forgery info in the State of the Union speech was a "single data point" in all the information. But when asked specific questions about the "data point" being disproved and wholly discounted by the intelligence community here and in the UK she waffles and spouts paragraphs of rhetoric without answering the question - actually going to the point of repeating that Saddam "HAD" WMD 12 years ago. What a complete load of BS.

I know some people were complaining on this forum about having to read "all that" in a post which quoted a news account of about 2 pages but please don't tell me people now consider sitting in front of the TV too much. 😕

US National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice has defended a controversial claim that Iraq was seeking uranium from Africa, saying it was substantiated by several sources.

Nonetheless, she echoed President Bush's spokesman in saying that the allegation should not have been included in the president's State of the Union address in January.

In that speech, Mr Bush said: "The British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa".

Ms Rice said: "The statement that he made was indeed accurate. The British Government did say that.

"Not only was the statement accurate, there were statements of this kind in the National Intelligence Estimate" - a reference to a classified document compiled by US agencies.

However, she stood by the position that it was a mistake to use it in the State of the Union address.

"We have a higher standard for presidential speeches than raw intelligence," Ms Rice said.

A more specific reference to Iraq's attempts to obtain uranium had been removed from an earlier speech at the CIA's request, she added.

After the biggest US intel failure since Pearl Harbor (9/11) and numerous intel failures since then, you'd think our country would make doubly-damn sure of everything before acting on it... She also acknowledged that a year earlier, the V.P. sent a operson to Africa to substantiate the claim, and he returned saying the claim was false, yet Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice spouted this lie several times leading up to the SOTU speech. I told all of you here months ago this war was a vindictive response by Bush to go after the man (Saddam) who tried to kill his daddy. He had the power to go after him and he created false information to bolster support to do the only thing he was interested in in the first place, get Saddam and get those oil contracts. There is no exit strategy and never was. He moved as quickly as he could, at the height of support by our citizens based on those fabrications. Bush doesn't give a crap about Iraqi's. He is now using the military to do everything it can to find WMD's and if he can't do that, I bet he'll plant them.

Can you point out where she was lying? Unfounded accusations abound here and I'm interested in what is a LIE, since claims are being made. I didn't claim everything was the truth even though I believe it is, BOBDN made assertion that it was a LIE because ....? That's what I am looking for, his reason for claiming she is "..lying through her teeth"
