The comitee barely breathed, and the Republican Congress has their rubber stamp.

Most of the Wind Bags on the comitee just wasted their alloted time for questioning by making
inflated boastful speeches about how wonderful they were, while the GOP members praised
Rice for not being the dumbest rock on the beach.

16-2. looks like Kerry lost another vote again.

Other Democrats, including ranking member Joseph Biden of Delaware, had said they were reluctantly voting to elevate Rice to the nation's top diplomatic job.
He should have taken a stand then, and not voted for her.

Not my point though. "It's" no more over than Bush winning. Yes the conformations (sic) are over, but I am not rolling over.

Still got that pesky little reading comprehension thing going dan't you >

Here, I'll point something out to simplify things:

She was confirmed by a 16-2 vote with Democrats John Kerry of Massachusetts and Barbara Boxer of California voting no.

? I have no idea what you are saying

What I was saying was that Kerry was again on the losing side of another vote as he and Boxer were the only 2 voting against. And I was saying that Biden and the other democrats should have voted against Rice too instead of saying the stupid "reluctantly vote" crap.

That is the committee vote.

It will be intereting when the full Senate votes.
Then the hot airs will be distinguished from those that have principle.

Kerry had to vote against anything Bushs proposes as a matter of policy.
Boxer was the one the was crying over the EC confirmation. ATP&N Link

Or maybe those are the only two Senators with the cajones to stand up and point out that Rice is a God awful choice for Sec State :disgust:

Boxer cried and Kerry ran against Bush, that certainly must mean they aren't right, right? I swear, some of you Bush supporters would support ANYTHING Bush layed on the table.

My own opinion is that Rice should not be SOS.
However, Boxer's theatrics are a disgrace.

A disgrace for asking the question that should've been asked by all the Senators??

I'm sure the families of the 9/11 victims are just thrilled. Oh well, here's hoping she's better at this job than the current one.

You manage to mention someone who is less capable of actual thought than Sean Hannity.

Congrats.

Boxer is an idiot. No one likes her, not even Californians. The problem is that Californians dont like the fundy Conservatives that keep running against her even more.

That being said, Condi Rice as Secretary of State? Ack. The Secretary of State position has generally been filled by the more moderate, err on the side of caution, diplomacy, etc. personalities. With the fall guy Powell out, Condi Rice? Ack. I feel shes still stuck in her Cold War view of the world.

Hunh?

Boxer is well-liked. She has been the one lone voice of reasoned dissent in the right's imperialistic march. She voted against the 1991 Gulf War resolution. She saw through the facade.

However, Boxer's theatrics are a disgrace.

She was asking questions that I think should have been asked by more people. Perhaps she's a little more theatrical than *I* might be in her position, but someone needed to do it, and I respect her for doing so (even if a little oddly) than I respect everyone else for not saying anything.

Look at it this way, her and Kerry were the only two people who voted the way you would have voted. Doesn't that earn them a little respect?
