Mr. Bush's job approval rating is at 44 percent, a dangerously low number for an incumbent president, and one of the lowest of his tenure. A majority of voters said that they disapproved of the way Mr. Bush had managed the economy and the war in Iraq, and - echoing a refrain of Mr. Kerry's - that his tax cuts had favored the wealthy. Voters said that Mr. Kerry would do a better job of preserving Social Security, creating jobs and ending the war in Iraq.

Two weeks before Election Day, voters hold a sharply critical view of President Bush's record in office, but they have strong reservations about Senator John Kerry, leaving the race in a tie, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll.

The Bush supporters, sometimes aided by a conservative press (Sinclair owns CNN) have been pounding on the idea that Bush is ahead in the polls. Whaaa hawwpaned??? Sounds to me like they are extremely close in the polls.

But a majority of Americans continue to see Mr. Kerry as an untrustworthy politician who will say what he thinks people want to hear. More than half of respondents said they considered him liberal, reflecting a dominant line of attack by Mr. Bush this fall.

OMG they think he's a [darth vader] Liberal[/darth vader]. How in the hell has the right co-opted the word Liberal and turned it into an epithet. That's definitely something we need to work on. Liberal is not a dirty word!

Mr. Kerry is in better shape than he was when the debates began, when the Times/CBS News poll found him trailing Mr. Bush, 42 percent to 50 percent. But this poll and others suggest that he is having difficulty turning strong discontent with the state of the country into support for his candidacy.

OF course the deabtes helped. If they hadn't, any shred of faith I might have had in the American people would be gone.

The Times/CBS News poll also suggested an area of vulnerability for Republicans in Congress. Only 38 percent of the poll's respondents said they approved of the way Congress was doing its job; 46 percent of respondents said they planned to vote for the Democratic Congressional candidate, compared with 38 percent who said they would vote Republican.

That's perhaps the best news I've seen in a while. Even if Bush gets back in, maybe we can throw the right -wingers out of Congress. Take away the neocons ability to wreak havoc upon the Nation.

Don't buy their sh1t becasue it's "in-fashion" or has a certain label. wear what YOU think is cool and/or high quality. Ditch the old navy and gap culture.

Download your music. Even better make your own! Don't buy into the RIAA and friends.

Stop driving that damn car and get off your ass and try pushing some pedals or taking the bus (see 2 down) -you will feel better in a number of ways.

Make a zine distribute to your local coffeeshops etc.

Get out in the real world and meet people and talk ASAP -This is the killer I think, bitching on the net or hearing someone spout talking points on monopoly-controlled airwaves is too anonymous. -jerks are less likley to call you a liberal f@g frenchie to your face instead of answering to the reality of our current administration and there lackeys. (Or is it the other way around?)

Be your own media.
Don't let corprate profiteering dictate American culture and mindset like we have now.
