Fox was worried they would lose money from all the Simpsons reruns they run during that time slot. Those are pure profit for the TV stations.

Lopez ain't no dummy. He wants a steady job, and if Conan opens for him, he's guaranteed a show for years.

Now I'm definitely feeling bad for him. He should still be on NBC. Oh well, I'll watch every night still.

Apparently his budget is the same as it was when he was on the Tonight Show so it's not going to be a super low budget show. I think this is actually a good fit for him. He's going to be the star of the network and he's got complete creative control. Also, there's going to be less pressure for him to get good ratings on TBS. Yeah tbs scored well with this one. To get a solid lead show to try to catch a sizeable amount of the audience to pool over to lopez tonight which is probably tanking in terms of tonight shows.

If that's the case it would be an extremely stupid move on their part. I'd be surprised if their advertisers did not strongarm them into it, considering the ratings his show will get, at the very beginning at least and probably going forward.

Many cable companies were apparently unaware of the changeover until after it occurred.[2] As a result, should Canadian cable companies wish to air "cable" TBS, it will be several months before the necessary approvals are received. TBS is still surprising to me.
