Here comes the U2 hating circle jerk...

Yep, pretty much. Morons who can't think for themselves is what they are.

That's pretty focking ironic right there.

Say, is Boner gonna thank Sonic Youth for penning the aforementioned song before him & the Edge boosted it to pass off as one of their own? And then are they gonna apologize for addding the retarded yeah yeah yeah crap?

Maybe I just haven't caught the vision yet, but I'm sorry, it's true. U2 somehow got the ball rollin on the "it's popular to love U2" boat and now you get called a moron if you don't like them. They must have some amazing marketing strategists I guess

I gotta agree (except I don't like their music). Someone mentioned that people hate U2 just to hate them, but what I've found is that people like them just because they feel like they are supposed to. Your radio DJ is telling you to like them. Apple is telling you to like them. TV tells you that you should like them. If you don't, you're not cool. You don't want to be uncool, do you? Then you must listen to U2 and bash anyone who doesn't like them!

So, wait a minute. There MUST be only two types of U2 people then, those who don't like them because they feel like people think they should and people who like them because they don't have a choice. Is that about right? This thread absolutely stinks of fanboy infestation.

I clarified my point with regards to U2. I like their older stuff, don't care for their newer stuff too much, but I won't change the station unless the song has been way overplayed (which is a problem with all music today). That is probably why I listen to 80's music more than anything else, because it's not overplayed on any of my local radio stations. Fact of the matter is, I'm not a music bigot either. I will listen to just about anything to be honest. Hell, I could care who the artist is as long as it's a decent tune.

I COMPLETELY enjoy U2s old stuff, in fact unquestionably Unforgetable Fire is my favorite LP and Wide Awake in America my favorite EP (thats CD and Single respectively to you youngin's). Their new stuff is "meh" at best.

If you've ever seen them live or perform live on a show you will realize that they almost always play their old hits, and often older less known B-Sides (thats track #s in the teens for you youngin's).

Maybe my sarcasm meter is broken but New York isn't all that new.
