wow, looks awesome in HD

now if only my family could get an HDTV ...

or at least an HDTV Capture Card

I have a HDTV tuner card (PCI) in my computer, hooked up to my 2005FPW. Works quite well.

Which one do you use?

I've been thinking about the HDTV Wonder, but it's pretty expensive and I heard that for some people, it doesn't work quite well.

If you think the HDTV Wonder is expensive, you're not going to like mine 😛

I have heard of various problems with ATI's HD tuner as well...the one I have has given me no problems at all, allows for timeshifting digital programs, etc. 🙂

Edit: Take a look at the DVICO Fusion 3 as well...it doesn't have a hardware decoder, and is relatively cheap.

well, what's a good one for recording OTA HDTV?

i want to get one before that stupid broadcast flag goes into effect

Any of them should work fine for recording OTA HDTV really, although I only have first-hand experience with one obviously 😛. (And yeah, the broadcast flag thing was why I went ahead and bought the tuner I did as soon as it was released two months ago.)

Will that output to a window too or does it only have vga out (meaning you need another monitor)?

The one I have does have a preview window overlay, but it's only 480p. I have it connected to my LCD through the VGA input right now, but I just ordered the DVI card for it, which will let me send both my vid card's DVI signal and the HD card's DVI signal to my monitor and switch between them with the remote.

The cards without hardware decoders (ATI HDTV Wonder, DVICO Fusion, etc.) send an overlay to the main video card, as usual.

I just turned it on. It is very much not in HD. This is the OTA NBC broadcast of episode for the 27th.

Looks like the local broadcast studio resampled it so it looks like a widescreen version at 480i.

Wait... I didn't even really read the thread. You need an over the air HD tuner to get the benefits, right?
