I'm going to assume that 2.3 is the last upgrade the Droid X is going to get. Now that the phone is slowly disappearing from the marketplace, Motorola will probably quit their development work on updates and do their best to convince you to upgrade to a newer model.

from the wiki page:
The Motorola Droid X is a smartphone manufactured by Motorola Mobility, Inc. that runs the Android 2.2 software. The Droid X has been distributed since July, 2010 by Verizon Wireless in the United States and Iusacell in Mexico. According to reports, the planned end of life for the Droid X, along with a related device, the Droid Incredible, was scheduled for March 31, but was not taken off Verizon's website; which means they intend to keep selling the phone.

im just pissed that every time i upgrade to a better phone and work my ass off for a decent price (70 bucks and a car dock thrown in) the damn things go to free or cheaper than i paid a month later.
