Computer's Internal Speaker Beeping

My computer's internal speaker just beeps like every once in awhile, but my computer seems to be running fine. What could be the problem? I scanned my comp for viruses and its clean.

if it beeps a couple of times every once in awhile, it sounds like it could be a overheating problem of the cpu. or perhaps it just wants some attention.

What I cant figure out is mine beeps everytime I get an msn e-mail notice when I turn off all sound themes. Is windows xp trying to tell me it wont shut up ever? even if I remove all sounds for all events. damm win xp

i think the problem is from

- the temp of processor is overheat

- some problem with power supply "try to change it"

I have motherboard monitor and it states my temps are 42idle-45load.
Could that be wrong?

Also my computer seems to be running perfectly, its just every once in awhile it beeps. Should I still check out the power supply?

It sure sounds like a hardware monitor function is going out of tolerance sporadically. It could be a voltage, a temperature, or a fan speed discrepancy. Listen for a change in fan sound like it's shifting gears. This is usually an indication that the power supply is either inadaquate in size or the regulation is bad.

Supposedly you can fix this by turning off "sticky keys" . I get the beeps all the time too, and its only since installing XP. You can get to the settings by going to the accessibility options section of the control panel, or by hitting shift 5 times. Go to the general tab and then turn off both notification features. No more beeps. The first time I noticed it was while playing a game, if I held the cursor key down for more than a couple seconds the speaker would beep.

If thats not it, which I think it is, just go into your BIOS and turn off the PC speaker option, wherever it may be. OR, just unplug the speaker lol.

Well I figured out what was wrong, but not sure how it got this way. Basically my internal speaker beeps whenever someone signs on AIM or logs off (not all the time, but when I pay attention about 80% of time it matches along with people coming on and off)

Any idea on how this got turned on?

I figured out what the problem is, but I don't know how it got this way!

Basically it beeps whenever someone signs on or off AIM, or if like a windows sound plays for something (i.e error sound).
Anyone know how to get rid of this w/o disabling the PC speaker (in case something in the future does go wrong)
