Computer's clock losing time

My Windows clock loses about 15 minutes per 24 hours. Does anybody know what could be causing this? Now, my knowledge of computing fundamentals is pretty shaky, but isn't the whole damn computer a clock? I'm afraid this is a symptom of a real problem. Somebody suggested the cmos battery might be failing; is there any way I can test this?

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.

Sounds like the CMOS's lithium battery is starting to go bad. You should replace it... and I'm not sure about a way to test it, but your symptoms point to a battery going bad.

TooL is right happened to me on a brand new EPoX and an old IBM machine as well just power it down and take it out head to RipShack or where ever you buy batteries and there you go ! Easy Fix😛
