Computers are so freakin' handy!

Fortunately (or maybe unfortunate in some folk's eyes) I never really had to grow up without computers. I got hooked on my first little 8086. It just blows me away at how great these little guys are. I've been doing research the past couple of days for a couple of classes and thing must have been a nightmare 25 or 30 years ago. Or perhaps classes have just asked for more since they allow such quick access to information.

Right now I'm running 46 instances of Internet Explorer. One is a Hot deal im monitoring, another is this one. The rest are all articles from wired.com, cbs marketwatch, washington post, newsbytes, etc. 4 word documents open. One as a template for 2 other documents for one class, another for a paper in another class. 2 pdf files open which are cases. Combine that with dual monitor support and it's easy to look at one article on the right, and type what I need on the main monitor. It takes literally seconds to find supporting articles, either through google, or services like elibrary.

How the hell did people live without these guys? I mean I can imagine what an absolute nightmare it would be to find 90+ articles by hand, it's bad enough on the p00ter. How could you work on different classes at the same time? You'd have to have a bazillion copies and spend forever organizing. Here you can just copy and paste quotes, bibliographical information, etc.

I really appreciate the work that's put into these fantastic machines. And XP kicks ass, 98 would have run outta memory and crashed a few times and I'd have to find all those articles again.

Ah well, back to work 🙁
